Schengen visas

Short stays (up to 90 days)

Due to continued travel restrictions owed to the ongoing pandemic, Schengen visas for Germany can currently only be issued to travelers who have full vaccination protection by one of the below vaccines:

1)            Covisheld/Astra Zeneca
2)            Johnson & Johnson
3)            Moderna
4)            Novavax
5)            Pfizer/Biontech

Some exemptions apply for travelers with an urgent and essential travel reason, e.g. visit of a close family member (e.g. parent, spouse, or child). Please check detailed current information on visa regulations, entry to Germany and pandemic-related restrictions and conditions here.

Myanmar citizens require a visa to enter Germany and the Schengen states for short term stays of up to 90 days.

The Embassy only issues visas to applicants living in Myanmar. Myanmar citizens living outside of Myanmar have to apply at the competent German mission in their country of residence.

Germany currently represents the following countries for the application of Schengen visas (not for national visa applications and long term stays):

AUSTRIA, BELGIUM, DENMARK (only seafarers), GREECE (only seafarers), ICELAND and LUXEMBOURG.

If one of these countries is your main travel destination, please contact the competent Mission of this country and present your case. The Mission of the country of main destination will examine your request. If your request is accepted, this Mission will notify you and you can proceed to schedule an appointment with VFS. At the time of your appointment, you will need to present a printout of the competent Mission’s confirmation.

You do not need to contact us in such a case and should not expect a reply from us if you choose to contact us anyway without a valid reason.

After your appointment has been confirmed, fill out the visa application form online with VIDEX

You can also print the application form and fill it out by hand.

Use the correct information checklist (see below) to compile all relevant supporting documents

Your passport must be valid for at least 3 months after your intended departure from the Schengen area and contain at least 2 consecutive empty pages.

You may submit your application up to 6 months before, and should do it at least 15 days prior to your intended travel date.
